Elderly Life Foundation shares leadership within Louisiana in developing and funding long term supports and advocating for elders, adults with disabilities and their families, and caregivers.
MISSION & HISTORY.
Elderly Life envisions a long-term system of supports that:
I. Promotes and supports individual and family direction
o Affirms the control by individuals and families over how supports are provided, in accordance with their preferences.
o Educates and empowers individuals and families to advocate for themselves.
o Disseminates information to communities to increase understanding of the needs and issues of elders and of adults with disabilities.
o Provides individuals and families with opportunities for feedback and for participation in policy making and quality management activities.
o Provides individuals and families with an accessible, impartial and effective grievance process.
o Supports the individual's right to determine quality of life and to make choices and take risks others may question.
II. Provides supports to meet individual and family needs
o Identifies and is responsive to the evolving needs and preferences of people and provides a variety of flexible supports in a variety of settings.
o Promotes a creative program, support and resource development process that includes community participation.
o Ensures that operations such as eligibility determination do not undermine the ability of individuals and families to choose the supports that meet their needs.
o Ensures that supports are delivered and integrated effectively.
1. To engage the elderly/disabled community and provide various resources to reduce unforeseen challenges.
2. To provide resources to the elderly/disabled community that will assist with unforeseen challenges and daily needs.
3. To be the liaison between the community and the elderly/disabled community in order to provide resources that will benefit the community as a whole.

Program Ideas.
1. Development of relationships and partnerships with multiple agencies in the Louisiana area to provide services for the elderly and disabled.
2. Financial assistance (Rent, Electric, Food, and clothing)
3. Assist with applications such as Food Stamps (SNAP), Social Security Benefits, Food Boxes, Long term Care, Doctor Appointments & (billing questions)
4. Assist with preparing homes with handicap accessibility. (wheelchair ramps, shower handles, and home repairs.)
5. Development of educational programing, wellness presentation and events.
6. Assistance with transition from homeless shelters to housing.
7. Summer Fan & Water Drives
